Obsessed with Basketball

To say that Parker loves basketball is a huge understatement. I don't know how normal it is for kids to become so obsessed with something at a young age, but at least he chose something good. It began a couple of months ago when we realized that he would rather sit with me and watch a Jazz game than watch his cartoons. Whenever a game is on, he sits intensely until someone makes a shot and then yells "yeah!" and throws his arms in the air (he also does this in Sacrament Meeting whenever someone says amen). It then turned into his favorite toys being my official size basketballs that he would carry around while proclaiming "ball!". That led to buying him his own smaller size basketballs and a little tykes basketball hoop that he will spend hours on his tippy toes delicately "dunking" the ball in the hoop. His newest talent as you can see in the above picture involves the basketball standard in the drive way. I lift him until he grabs the rim with both hands...he pulls himself higher while standing on my face...and then in a flash of bravery and courage, he takes one hand off the rim, pulls his binky out of his mouth, and dunks it through the hoop. Now if only he will be blessed with a little height!

What a cute post! It's fun that Parker enjoys watching the Jazz games with you and that he loves basketball. I'll have to tell Grandpa about this - he'll get a kick out of it!
